Mindy Horvath, RN, BSN, MBA, Dietetics and Integrative Medicine
I previously worked with a Functional Medicine Internal Medicine DO, in a local clinic, providing nutritional and lifestyle counseling to patients who are experiencing autoimmune conditions, cardio vascular diseases, obesity, pre-diabetes, diabetes, inflammatory conditions, liver overload issues, or who want to age with the best possible lifestyle. I love helping people be the best they can be or at least motivating them to try a new way of eating, cooking, and grocery shopping or just finding solutions to sleep issues or exercise plans.
I also love being able to apply my Registered Nurse background, pharmaceutical training in nutritional products from 30 years of nutritional pharmaceutical sales, along with my Graduate Certification in Dietetics and Integrative Medicine from the University of Kansas Medical School of Health Professions, to bring a personalized approach in the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases through nutrition and lifestyle. I really enjoy devising a personal plan and motivating individual clients to make lifestyle changes based on each person’s individual story, labs, In Body values, genetics and goals.
Previous to that, I worked in the “Pharmaceutical/Nutritional” Industry for 30 years, calling on Physicians and Hospitals presenting product information in infant and adult nutrition and figuring out the best possible nutrition for each patient including normal nutrition or in illness.
I received my Bachelors in Science and Nursing in 1979 from Indiana University and worked as a Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery from 1979- 1983 and then received my Masters in Business Administration from the University of Kansas in 1986. After retiring from the corporate world in 2017, due to health issues, I attended the University of Kansas graduate program of Dietetics and Integrative Medicine, where I learned a science based personalized approach, including labs and genetics, in the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases through lifestyle and nutrition. This certification emphasized a focus on the whole person, root causes, lifestyle, biochemical individuality, environmental influences and genetic differences. I also learned lifestyle and nutritional changes for myself and how to deal with Hashimotos Thyroiditis, an autoimmune disease, and chronic back pain.
I enjoy time with my family, including 3 grandchildren, 2 grown wonderful sons and their significant other and my significant other, (who BTW we met on an internet dating site!). I also enjoy working out and fitness, creative whole food cooking and figuring out what to eat when traveling and at restaurants! I am passionate about taking control of my lifestyle and my health! I hope I can inspire others to do the same!
